Thirteen

Motif 13 on the 13th of the month, aha.  I used mock rings for this little motif, as I did with motif 11.

  1. I like this mock ring idea, many times I was tempted to try this one but steered away from it. Well Played :)

  2. My first thought at seeing motif 11 was to wonder if you could tat a long chain and let it twist. I don't have the book, but I think I'll play with the concept a bit today and see how it turns out.

    1. That idea occurred to me too. I thought you could use a crocodile join to form a ring. I'd be interested to see your experiments.

  3. i've taken some in-progress photos and will try to post them this evening. I thought about the alligator join, but I opted for joining as for layered rings.

  5. I like this motif very much, but just can't see how the mock rings were worked! I thought I understood the concept ever since tatting one of Ginny Weather's Christmas decorations. In that pattern the mock ring made "pie slices"- but I suppose it's just another example of my being completely unable to read a map!

    1. If you look down to motif 11, I gave a fuller description of how I worked the mock ring. It's just a long chain, joined back to itself to make a ring.
