This Kersti Anear's
Jessica bookmark. My idea was that the top one would look like little red flowers in between green vines, while the second one would look like big red flowers with yellow centres. Not sure if that happened, but I do like the pattern very much.
Lovely ! Both look really good :-)
ReplyDeleteSomehow the focal point as flowers remains the central 5 rings. But just a thought -- if you add a longish picot join &/or split chain in the connecting segments of red, to imitate closure of 5th outer / larger petal, then may be it will look more like big red flower ?
Just wondering. ...
Try it and see!!
DeleteYep, it did for me! Kind of like Escher.
ReplyDeleteI like the red with cream centres best, But both are good.

I am always fascinated by our perceptions of colour and design, and surprised often, as in your example, of how the finished work differs from your initial mental visualization. : )
ReplyDeleteYes, an interesting topic. It was fascinating to see how different the Spring Napkins were on In Tatters, for instance.
DeleteSuch a great subject, and it makes me think of latius work, I like the top picture looks victorian, and the bottom makes me think of arabian nights, or at least the architecture.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right, it looks like one of those screens that the ladies sit behind!
DeleteBoth look very nice!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am often surprised to see the effect of color in geometric patterns
ReplyDeleteand it is true that the eye does not see the same pattern if the colors are reversed ... it's part of the charm of tatting with différents colors
How interesting to see the difference! Funny how that happens, but cool, too. Nice patterns.
