Yesterday Jack and I spent the whole day, 8 am to 5 pm, wandering around a shopping mall in Bloemfontein while our car was in the garage for a service. It's a sleek and modern shopping mall, with millions of things for sale that I don't need or want. There are no tatting shuttles or bright threads. No knitting yarns or crochet hooks. No fabrics or interesting buttons. Not my sort of place at all!
You showed great stamina then! - to spend an entire day in a threadless wasteland! Maybe there was a bookshop though, I could have spent a day looking at books.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right - the only things we bought were books and magazines!
DeleteLOL I have had the same experience! Don't care to shop unless there is yarn or thread available :) Of course don't let me loose in a yarn store I can be there for hours and purchase way too much!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about your mall, but ours are always over priced too!
ReplyDeleteHave to pay extra for high rents in those fancy places.
DeleteThat must have been sheer torture - hope you have recovered and the car service was not too expensive!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely exorbitant! And it took 9 hours instead of the promised 5, so we had to drive the 4 hour journey back home in the dark.
DeleteMalls - Masters of Malevolence.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I've sometimes thought that my idea of hell would be to wander about a mall for eternity!
Delete: )) The moment my feet hit the mall floor, my knees become weak! No exaggeration. When my mom took me to a big department store - I was about eleven - I actually nearly fainted and had to sit with my head between my knees for a while, as I was so upset in that environment. Remember it well and so it goes to this day. : ))
DeleteIt wouldn't be my sort of day at all either. Too bad you didn't have your tatting with you........
