A Diversion

The Renulek doily is so large that I didn't expect to work on it continuously. Here's the first diversion. My daughter asked me to tat some lace to decorate the sleeves of a blouse. We agreed that the Jane's bookmark pattern would be a good choice. Sleeves, like socks and earrings, generally come in pairs, so I need to tat another 60 cm length. Penny says she'll send me a photo of the blouse when she's sewn the lace on, so that I can show it on my blog.

  1. Lovely lace! - and yes indeed, sleeves always come in twos - I have felt every last one of the thousands of stitches I have been knitting on the sleeves of a jumper for my 6 foot 6 inch son...I'm SO happy today, it's all packed up, ready to go to Canada, and I can tat again!

  7. Great idea. I use that pattern all the time for bookmarks and crosses. Now I can make and edging with it too! Thanks for the idea.

    1. Actually, it was originally a braid in the Anna Burda magazine, that I adapted to make a bookmark, and Grace adapted to make a cross! I've seen it made into earrings too.

  8. This is beautiful! I am wanting to learn tatting to do edgings for cross stitch projects I do, as well as for making bookmarks, etc. Where can I get a copy of this particular pattern?

  9. It’s the same pattern as Jane’s bookmark. There’s a link to the bookmark pattern on the right of this page. Just worked in a finer thread than the bookmark is.
