The project for next year's embroidery competition is to make an evening bag embroidered in Indian Chain Stitch. After Monday's information day, I know that Indian chain stitch involves filling a whole design with chain stitch. I thought I'd practise a bit before looking for a design and the right fabric. It sounds simple enough, but it must be done perfectly - no split stitches, no spaces, even stitches..... I'll work on it.
It almost looks like a crocheted chain. You're making me want to look at my embroidery books!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful sun!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully done, Jane ! Each stitch is very even & neat :-)
ReplyDeleteSince it is a traditional Indian stitch, & If you are going for traditional, may I venture a few motif ideas that can be included - a paisley design, or Kashmiri Chinar leaves (maple leaves) . The Kashmiri patterns are gorgeous !
Any idea where I would find such a design? I've seen a lot of photos of finished work on the internet, but not much else.
DeleteThis sounds like a fun challenge! I look forward to seeing what you devise.
