Smooth as Satin? I don't think so.

The satin stitch leaves in my Schwalm embroidery were really a mess. I'm redoing them. I think there is an improvement. The leaf on the left in the picture has been redone, while the one on the right is the original. But how to achieve that satin smooth look is still eluding me.

  1. You're not alone with the dreaded satin stitch, its a beast to get looking smooth. Your redo though looks good.
Good health and contentment to you in 2014.

  3. Hang in there! Your redone satin stitch looks good. It takes practice, patience, and lots of time, but you can do it!

    1. I think you may have hit the nail on the head - practice has been insufficient!

  4. when you do your satin stitch, are you using more than one thread? that help me fill in and make a puff, that's the only thing I can think of. This is beautiful, when do we get the whole picture? :)

    1. You can read about the beginning of the project on the June 7th entry. I will do a big reveal when it's all done!
