I'm working my cross stitch over three threads of evenweave fabric, using three strands of embroidery cotton. That's bigger and thicker than I've ever worked before, but I need it to be bold enough to show up on curtains. It took a while, but eventually I got my eye in, so that now I notice if I've made a mistake and the stitch looks wrong.
I was addicted to counted cross stitch years ago, and at the time linen was my preferred fabric. I started a stitch-along a few months back and found that I couldn't see where to stitch, so I switched to Aida cloth. Isn't it amazing how we can train our eyes and brains to work together to see new things?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I’d have liked to use Aida. There’s a bit in the parcel but not enough for the frieze.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks wonderful!! :)
ReplyDeleteI like your phrase "got my eye in" to describe learning how it supposed to look.
