Feedback

I have my competition entries back,, with the judges comments. Some of the comments are fair enough - I agree that the armholes of the gilet are too big. The comments on the crochet top are harsh, I have to say - the tension is too loose, the front should have a mirror image, the finishing off is too tight, it's not well blocked... Makes me wonder how it got that far in the competition! Anyway, one  can't enter a competition without being willing to take criticism, so there we go. I'm glad to have my things back. I  plan to use the beaded bag myself.  The comments on it were mostly positive, the only criticism that it lacks a fastener.

  1. Criticism can be constructive if done well, perhaps the judge needs some lessons? I still level your beaded bag, it’s gorgeous!

  2. I love your work! That beaded bag is most impressive. I would think the weight of the beads would be enough to hold it closed.

  3. I love your work and good to have your stuff back 💖Never know when criticism might come in handy in future, even if some of it may be personal preference.

  4. Kudoos to you for submitting pieces to be judged! I have a theory that judges comments are a prone to misunderstanding as emails. One group here allows you to *quietly* sit in on the judging sessions. I learned so much listening to the comments that didn't come across in the written form. Keep submitting and maybe judge some items yourself!

  5. I always feel like I am a child with big crayons when I look at your work. I couldn't hold a candle to your abilities, I don't think they would allow me to enter at all :)

  6. Some criticism is fair but when they are so hash, thats too hard, your work is beautiful and I love seeing it.

  7. Congratulations, Jane! The comments of judges should match the criteria for the class, remembering that your piece may not be the only one entered. While there is not enough time to write you a personal essay, usually the brief comments are provided so that you may improve your technique, etc. While I may not agree with the feedback I receive at times, I must accept someone else's point of view and turn it into a positive.

    1. Yes, absolutely, well put. Thinking about it, I think my fundamental mistake was to choose the wrong thread. It was slippery and hard to work with. But I’ll take it all on board.
