Taking Their Chances

I took a last photo of the ducklings before Jack took them down to the pan and let them go. There are a lot of hazards out there, but I think they stand a much better chance of surviving than if we'd taken them back there six weeks ago. They were very happy to jump into the water for a swim.

Jack took this photo with his phone and I can't edit it, but you can see the ducklings swimming there. Best of luck to them!

  1. Congratulations Jane to you and your husband for looking after the ducklings so well. I expect you'll be able to visit them and see how they progress?
Continuing the wild life theme, our peregrine falcons who nest on our cathedral, early this morning laid their third egg. Rather fitting on Good Friday I think. The experts think that possibly egg number four could arrive on Easter Sunday. They can be seen by visiting Derby Cathedral's web site. They have been nesting there since 2005.

  2. Yes, the pan is not far away, so we hope to check on them for a while. That's so exciting. Is there a webcam trained on the nest?

  3. What a pleasant scene to see we let go some white ducks (only two) years ago and visited them two years later and they remembered us, I know it was them because they were not only the largest ones at the park amongst the others but they came right to my son and had a scare that he received (story for another day) to say the least I was amazed so many people there there and many ducks.

  4. That's amazing! These ducklings were never very tame, so I wonder if they will want to greet us, even if they do recognise us.
