Since I added beads to granddaughter Isabel's socks, I thought I'd add beads to these socks for granddaughter Nellie too. I threaded the beads onto the wool, which I had spun and dyed, and then moved them into position as I needed them. The pattern works well for this because I can put the beads between two purl stitches.
The socks are ready to be posted off to New Zealand for Nellie's birthday.
What lovely names your granddaughters have - all the old-fashioned names are coming back, aren't they? My newest granddaughter who is 8 weeks old, is named Eliza.
ReplyDeleteNellie's name is really Penelope, and she's called that at school. Eliza is nice. Yes, names like Emma have come back into fashion.
DeleteThey're lovely! :) thanks for your comment, I feel that I perfectly understand you!
ReplyDeleteMy great-grandmother could knit with circular needles, while my grandmother can't. During the war (they lived far from each other) she needed socks for her daughters and she invented her pattern with 2 normal needles. I still have and wear those she knitted for me many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThese are knitted on double pointed needles. I like not having to sew them together at the end!
DeleteI have to admit you are good! I don't know have you and Diane change so effortlessly between the Weaving and Knitting and Spinning and you go places and do many things! Did I mention Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSo these should be called twinkle toes!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Maybe when I retire I'll make time to knit socks again. I'm sure my granddaughters would get a kick out of the beads as well!
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome!! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful socks. I am having problems learning how to knit the heal flap. Must look for some videos.
ReplyDeleteWow ! Beads on socks - that's a first for me (granddaughter already has the creative genes from her granny !!! ) . These look very cute, including the stitch and colourway.
ReplyDeleteShe will be very pleased. Girls love glitter these days!
ReplyDeleteThose socks are so special! i would have loved a pair like that when I was young.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful socks and the colour is beautiful and with beads, a gorgeous pair of socks for a little lady.
