I finished the buttonhole stitch on my Hardanger bookmark, lesson three of the Hardanger course. It's not perfect, but better than my first attempt. I managed to get the hang of joining in a new thread smoothly, but undoing a stitch or two and doing them over resulted in hiccups. I'll have to ask someone the correct way to do that.
Now for the eyelets:
I'm relieved that the eyelets don't involve cutting threads! The hole is created by just pulling the thread all around. The eyelets are worked with a finer thread than the buttonhole stitch and kloster blocks:
Pulled thread! - it is so beautiful when stitched on large pieces. I am happy just to know the very simplest and most basic stitch.
ReplyDeleteEye, eye!!!!!! Looking great.
ReplyDeleteGosh, it looks wonderful! I admire how you try so many things and are so good at them.
ReplyDeleteOnly if they involve fibre - I avoid anything with paint or glue! But thank you!
DeleteLooking good, I like your eyelets really neat
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what size thread you use but I saw in last picture. I think your work is much better than mine would be those pictures are very close up and looks perfect. And the eyes are sweet too😄
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like you are doing very well!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI admire your work and stitchings. The eyelets look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitches!
ReplyDeleteYour lessons are paying off :-)
ReplyDeleteFor eyelets in other dense fabric, we use a knitting needle to poke a small hole, then embroider around it, pulling it out.
It is nice when you start to work on the detail, the bookmark will just come alive!
