Well, my poncho didn't win any prizes, so here are a couple of photos of the ponchos that did win:
Splendid, aren't they? The cardigan I knitted didn't even reach this stage of the competition, but here's a picture of the winning cardigan, which also won best on show:
There were also wonderful embroidered bags, sewing, crazy patchwork waistcoats..... One section that is way beyond my ken but very impressive was flower wreaths made from egg cartons. This one came second, but I liked it more than the first one, so I took a photo of it:
I enjoyed the conference, but what made the trip really special was the group I traveled and stayed with, so here's a picture of them too:
I remember your poncho, it was lovely, those are pretty as well. Incredible wreaths!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had wonderful things to see!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour poncho is very pretty, too. I'm fascinated with all the wonderful things you knit - and often from wool you spin and dye yourself!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a great way to see your poncho behind glass first and your friends and trip sounds like it was fun and happy time :)
ReplyDeleteYour poncho looks so lovely, I would have given it a prize,
ReplyDeleteThe wreath is beautiful, as a florist years agoI would have given it first prize, I wonder if they gave it the test to prove which one was the best, the test Interflora give them is to turn them upside down and if anything falls out, that's it failure.
I am glad you enjoyed the conference
I wonder if colours had anything to do with it ? These ponchos have bold (traditional?) colours.
ReplyDeleteBut the cardigan & wreath are amazing !!!
Glad you had fun & here's hoping for many ribbons in the next fair :-)
What a shame! - but all of us here at the bottom of your blog liked your poncho and cardigan, and it's not about winning is it? - ( well, actually, yes of course it is....... : ) ) You can now enjoy wearing the cardigan.
ReplyDeleteOf course it would be nice to win a prize, but I have to say, I really enjoyed the process of making the cardigan and poncho so I'm happy. It was good to go to the conference and see just how much beautiful work is out there. I have more respect now for the 5th place I received for my tatted doily!
DeleteI am sorry that you didn't win a prize, your cardigan and poncho were lovely and also well made. I am sure that you will have better luck next year!
DeleteSounds like a wonderful trip! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
