Bug Hat
Ah, I knew my absolute concentration on tatting couldn't last forever. I needed a gift for a neighbour's new grandchild, so I took some time out from tatting to sew this hat. The fabric was in my stash and the pattern handy, so it didn't take long.
Oooooh, I want one, I want one. Bet that would fit me. I've such a small head (not a lot to house) that I have to look at kid's hats to get a good fit. Maybe I should make my own too. What did you stiffen it with?
That's soooo cute -- I love the fabric! My mom used to use heavy buckram to stiffen things like hats. I wonder if it's still available, or if they have something else nowadays?
It's like a stiff paper, the one I use, but washable. I asked the lady in the shop what it's for and she said 'hats', which is what I was using it for.

ReplyDeleteIt's a stiffener that is apparently made just for hats. Not sure what its proper name is. I like to make a wide brim and stiffen it, gives good shade!
DeleteCuter than cute, Jane!!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! - but I'm trying to visualise it on a newborn baby's head........
ReplyDeleteAh, it will go in the closet until baby's head grows a bit and baby goes out in the sun! It's not very big though and soon fits.
