Bottled

I took some time out from knitting to do some bottling. Jack has had a prolific crop of tomatoes in his garden. They're not very attractive tomatoes, but when they've been cooked up with onions, also from the garden, and a few other ingredients, they're fine. I freeze the tomatoes as the first step. Half defrosted, the skins come off easily and they can be chopped. Then I defrost them completely in a colander so that the water drains out. They cook quickly then because all that water doesn't have to evaporate off.

  2. On Jane Eborall's page, your blog update is directly above Diane's, and coincidentally, the colours of your tomatoes exactly match her Spinning Wheel Mat! - the planets must have been in alignment when you both wrote your entries!
