I have an order for ten masks. It's months since I last sewed masks. We have been in a strictly enforced lockdown but things are easing up a bit. Ironically, there is more demand for masks when things are less strict. When the mask mandate is being enforced, people keep track of their masks. But in slacker times, they leave them at home and then have to buy another one when they find they're not allowed into the shop!
I have to remember my 'notes to self'. Like pinning only the first set of patterns and then using the fabric backed pattern for the rest, using a weight to hold them in place. And snipping threads after each procedure so that I don't miss any. Yesterday our power was off for several hours, so I'm behind where I thought I'd be. But I haven't left it to the last minute, so there's no panic.
I haven't had the urge to make masks. I would if someone asked, but I keep hoping conditions will improve!
ReplyDeleteWonderful material for the masks! Most people around me go for black or dark solid material. I just can't!! I have even added tatting to the 2 I wear most often.
ReplyDeleteI sewed many masks last year, but now it's months ago. I'm not organised and didn't save patterns, anyway I remember that the best one for me was a rectangular shape, easy-peasy!
ReplyDeleteI’m back to wearing masks inside too. Hospitals here are full here, (likely with people over the past 18 months who were too afraid to get needed medical attention and can’t put it off any longer), so I’m taking extra precautions in buildings when needed. Bought an old Singer Featherweight that didn’t work. Put a new cord on it, lots of cleaning & oiling, a new needle. This Singer zippidy-zings across fabric now! Love the ol’ girl!!! Guess I should name her. She’s a charm! I should make a few new masks with you.
