Schwalm Progress

I've made some progress on my Shwalm embroidery. I had another lesson on Tuesday, where I learnt three stitches to work on the drawn thread areas. I'm working on the big heart at the bottom, doing a stitch that reinforces the threads that are left. It's not difficult, but it boggles the mind a little. I hope I can remember how to do it now that I'm home and working alone!

  1. I think I had a friend that did this type of work, do you take a knife and carefully cut some threads out and pull them out? That's what she explained to me. Always sounded scary to me :)

    1. It seemed scary to me too! I used scissors, but yes, you cut a thread in the middle of the motif, unravel to the edge of the motif and then cut it. Different parts of the design have different patterns of cutting, so the heart was cut 2 threads, leave 2 threads, while the leafy thing in the middle was cut one thread, leave 3 threads. Deep breath before you start cutting!

  2. Looks fantastic! I'd be nervous doing the thread cutting.
