Tea with Miss Caroline

Six or seven years ago, I made a lot of muslin milk jug covers with tatted edgings and motifs which I gave away as gifts. It was my first foray into using beads! I thought it was an idea worth revisiting. But I'd forgotten how long it takes to tat a beaded edging. I'm going to have to come up with a simpler version if it's going to be worth selling them at a Christmas Market. I think Miss Caroline will be gifted because no one would be willing to pay for the time this took me to do.

  1. It is beautiful and the beads weigh down the cloth, what a great idea. I know people don't pay for the time you have taken to do this. If there was a way to make them observe you making it :(

  2. The cover is so beautiful. That is the problem when trying to tat items to sell. I have a Christmas sale on Saturday and know that the higher priced items will not sell but will take them along, just in case!

  6. It will be a very special gift for someone! Tatting is something which simply cannot be priced according to Time spent on it - I suppose the philosophy must be simply to enjoy what you do while you're working on it, and let that be reward enough. Then the item can be priced realistically for a fund-raising sale. You must charge for the materials, of course.

  8. It is very difficult to price up anything either knitting, tatting or anything made, you never get money for your time, but you have to make a profit of some kind, I price up and then add on so I make something on it, but it's never enough for the time it takes to make.
Lovely cover, I am sure anyone would buy it as a gift.
