I was so excited about finishing round 13 on schedule that I joined the last ring to the wrong picot on the first repeat. Oh woe. Luckily I noticed before I cut the ends and sewed them in. I undid the last chain no problem, but really struggled to open the ring. Eventually I cut the shuttle off, leaving a long enough thread to finish the round, and undid the stitches one by one. Anyway, round 13 is now done. I'm leaving my thread markers in place so I can pace round 14 too. The doily measures 38 cm, 15 inches, across. I'm a little tempted to leave it like that because round 13 makes a good edging, but no, I'll go on.
Lovely! I'm behind... I'm only half way around, and tatting times looks to be minimal today. Oh, well! I guess I'll catch up eventually.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that the motifs in this round are the same as one of the central rounds, but spaced apart to accommodate the enlarged girth. A design lesson learned! 🧡💜🧡
ReplyDeleteYes, it’s very clever.
DeleteCheering you on!!!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you managed to fix that join quite easily! When opening rings, i noticed that the last stitch tries to unflip and the ring doesn't open anymore. Maybe that is what happened to yours too...
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely. Sometimes I can unlock that stitch and carry on but it just wouldn’t work!
DeleteIn this doily, I have often wanted to quit because the edge is beautiful. These flowers would have a beautiful edge. This pattern could be used to make a composition with one large and many smaller doilies which the pattern isn't finish.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a good idea.

ReplyDeleteOh dear, sounds as though you're in the same position as Diane, the lace loving librarian.
