Rhubarb And...

There was enough rhubarb in the garden for another batch of jam. Last time I made jam, I combined the rhubarb with ginger. I didn't have any ginger on hand, but I found this recipe for rhubarb, lemon and vanilla jam, for which I had all the ingredients. The funny thing is, I could have just walked to the supermarket and bought more ginger. I've lived far from shops for most of the past 40 years, so I'm used to just using what I have available - I don't have a town mentality! Anyway, the jam turned out really well. It has a nice tartness.

  1. Yum! I love anything made with rhubarb! I love living in the country, but there are times when I miss the convenience of living in town. We moved to the country 39 years ago this coming June.

  2. I keep wondering what rhubarb tastes like 😃 Is there anything similar in taste?

    1. Mmm. It’s quite sour. Passion fruit perhaps? A friend of mine said she doesn’t eat it because it’s always cooked with sugar. If it’s over cooked it goes stringy. That’s not taste, I know.

    2. LOL, never eaten passion fruit either 🤣 I did recently eat dragon fruit and did not like it much on it's own. Perhaps it was not ripe enough. Thanks, Jane 💕
