I have finished knitting all the parts of my black cardigan but haven't yet put them together. After weeks of working with black, I need some colour in my life! I also need a gift for a baby shower at the end of the week. I'm using up my handspun wool scraps to make a pram blanket.
I had to learn to read a crochet chart to make this. I've been using knitting charts for years but never managed to get the hang of crochet charts. The pattern on http://www.mypicot.com/is only given in a chart and since this pattern is just what I was looking for, that was the incentive I needed to learn how to follow a chart. I can use quite short bits of wool, especially for the narrow rows, which makes this pattern perfect for using up scraps.
That makes lots of sense to pick the narrow rows when you have bits of yarn to use, always good tips and love this look it makes it one of a kind:)
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty! I learned to read crochet charts before learning to read knitting charts, so I find it easier to follow the crochet charts. I guess it's all in what we learn first.
ReplyDeleteRipple patterns are so effective - as long as you don't mind dealing with lots of ends!
ReplyDeleteLook at all those colors! What fun! The question now, do you see the other works that these are the scraps of?
ReplyDeleteYes for some of them but mostly I'm looking at the colours with new eyes.
DeleteSo pretty & uplifting !!!
ReplyDeleteI find crochet charts much easier than knitting charts because the former are actual graphics of the stitch in most cases.
My picot has a great collection of patterns in both.
It's awesome in all those colors!!! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeletelots of pretty colours, I don't like crochet charts either, I find them much harder to follow as you have to keep taking your eye off your work and try and figure out where you are up to.
ReplyDeleteIt's not so much that I don't like them as I've never learnt to use them.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely
ReplyDeleteLove the ripple pattern, I've made two afghans just like this. You know, I never did learn how to read crochet patterns? When I discovered tutorials on YouTube I simply followed those instead!
