A Short Spring

This is the first 10 rounds of Renulek's wiosna 2018, Spring doily or Spring napkin. Renulek gives the stitch count for a round every week on her blog, or you can buy the whole pattern in her Etsy shop. Mine is tatted in Coats thread size 40.

When I was working on round 10, I realised that I had made a mistake in round 4, and as a result was one repeat short. The number of repeats doubles in round 11, which would compound the problem. Rather than correct the mistake or carry on regardless, I decided to invent a finishing round and leave it at that. It measures 37 cm across, not a bad size for a doily.

If anyone notices the mistake without being told, I'd say they haven't enough to do!

  1. It looks really pretty! I'm glad you found a good way to finish it. Don't worry about people noticing the mistake, it is pretty hard to find even when you know where it is supposed to be! :)

  2. Lovely doily, and great way to work around the mistake. I don’t think anyone will notice it. You’ve been posting your progress for a while and none of us saw anything amiss. I was surprised when you pointed it out!

  3. So lovely but isn't it annoying when you know there's a mistake in there. Like you say nobody would know but you do and it rankles doesn't it.

  6. I like the way you finished it. I agree that no one will ever notice the "mistake" also known in my world as a design element! :-)

  10. I love your doily, I think you did the right decision, I love your sentiment if they notice they haven't enough to do. I will remember that when I need it.

  11. Excellent 'finishing' round. I've just caught up with your blog, and missed all the posts about the dilemma!
You came up with the perfect solution!

The photos from your trip are amazing! It sounds so exotic - something we only see in movies! Can't believe the photos of the elephant and giraffe! I have to admit I'd be a little nervous on a boat trip 'above' the Falls! Wonderful memories!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope to post more often now.

  12. Your doily looks wonderful! Hate when that happens - I would never go back to re-do all of that beautiful work, so good for you to finish it so beautifully! No one would ever notice - and I’m with you - if anyone does, they need something more to take up their time!
