Miss Molly in Blue

Miss Molly is my name for a small version of Stacey Lozano's Molly Poncho pattern, which is on Ravelry. I made a pink one for Isabel and then this blue one for Annika. I didn't fill the neck in on this one because I was worried it would make the neck too small to go over Annika's head. It means the poncho has no definite back and front, which may not be a bad thing.

  5. This is very adorable! Looks like it might be fun to knit!

Thought I'd share an amusing 'too-small neck opening' story. Many years ago I made a sweater for my nephew (had sailboats on it). When he tried it on Christmas Day, I was embarrassed that the neck (crew neck ribbing) was too small to put his head through! Poor kid, I kept tugging on it, 'willing' it to go over his head, but no go! (Glad he doesn't have a fear of pullovers because of it!) Fortunately it was a simple matter of undoing the sewing of the 'hem' of the ribbed 'crew neck', which I had folded over and sewn down inside) and sewing it more loosely! There's a photo of him watching me do just that! I must have brought my yarn needle with me, and fortunately I had left an extra length of thread when I sewed it down, but I didn't anticipate having to 'fix' it! He wore it for several years, which made me happy! From then on, I made sure I sewed neckbands down loosely!

  6. I'm glad you didn't put him off knitwear for life! I've made pullovers that wouldn't pull over. I gather a child's head is relatively large to body size, compared to an adult.

  8. It's only a few posts ago that you were dying the wool for this! - so fast, and it's just as lovely in blue.
