I started round 4 using one shuttle and ball, but that just wouldn't do. The third ring of the 'trilogy' stuck up horribly. I'll show you. The photo is a bit shadowy because I took it in the evening before cutting those repeats off and starting again with two shuttles.
Perhaps a vsp join between the chains and the 'sticky up' ring would help?
ReplyDeleteI think the next row will hold it in place, but I didn't want to give it too much work to do!
DeleteI have also switched to using two shuttles for that very reason. The difference is amazing! I really like the colors you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteI don't like using shuttle and ball, two shuttles always turns out flatter and no worries, most people like to avoid it cause of hiding ends and winding, I guess it's to "each her own"
ReplyDeleteI was amazed to see on In Tatters how many people said they always use 2 shuttles. Perhaps I need to pay more attention!
DeleteI am sure when you do the next row they should stay down, I have taken to using two shuttles now, I find it's working out better, we are all different in our preferences

Love how your doily is shaping up, Jane :-)
ReplyDeleteThis round was the toughest for me ! And, I, too, used shuttle & ball. BIG mistake ! At each 'junction' I tried something different to get that ring to lay flat, but it didn't always work. Luckily, the next round remedied the floppiness. But lesson learned - use 2 shuttles :-)
Looks great!! :)
