I delivered the socks and gloves on Saturday and was asked to make a hat too. I'll have to spin and dye wool for it. I thought I'd work on the Kaffe Fassett cardigan for a bit first. A member of the local quilters' guild has asked me to show them the cardigan-in-process at their next meeting, so that gives me an excuse!
I'm going to knit the two sleeves at once, to be sure to match the colours. The pattern has long sleeves, but I'm going to make mine short. I used the ribbing on the back to work out how many stitches I'd need for a cuff and it turned out to be the same number as the fullest part of the sleeve on the pattern, 99 stitches, so that's handy. I can just knit straight for a bit and then follow the pattern for the sleeve cap, without having to make any adjustments.

I'm not sure I'd be able to do all that math to make the sleeves turn out correctly! My mom used to knit both sleeves at the same time. She said that it was easier to make sure they were the same length. I'm eager to see the finished sweater!
ReplyDeleteIt has always amazed me how the sleeves take up the same amount of yarn as the body while giving the impression of being narrow 😄 Looking forward to yoiur completed cardigan!
