Correction

I'm doing fairly well at finding my way through the magic maze, but every now and then I miss a join. X marks the spot in the photo above. Hmm. I really didn't want to spend time retro-tatting or snipping and rejoining. I decided to just use needle and thread to make the join.
I'm using size 40 thread, but I split white size 20 into three strands and used one of them. I anchored the thread on one side, whip stitched to the picot, secured the opposite picot and then took my thread to the other side, repeated the exercise and finished off.
It is possible to see my join, but I don't think it'll matter in the bigger piece. If anyone wants to go looking for said join, I'd say they have too much time on their hands!

  1. Can't tell! Plus I remind myself that I'm being historic when I have to do the same.

  2. Well done! I've sewn picots together before, but I never thought of splitting the thread. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the idea!

  3. The old tatters did that. I agree with you, it's a good solution.

  4. I like your solution !!! Ensures that colours remain same.
I either use size 40, sewing, or embroidery thread in matching colour.

  5. Jane your needle and thread join is brilliant and I certainly would not look for it. Your tattting is amazing! Thank you for always visiting my blog and commenting. Your words are very comforting. <3

  6. Great solution! I sure can't see it, it would be visible only if you purposely look for it. Beautiful mat.
