Flowers In A Row

I'm working on the Flowers in a row blanket for my granddaughter, using this pattern. I have to say, I think life is too short to make a blanket in single crochet. I'm using two rows of double crochet where the pattern uses four rows of single crochet. I don't think it affects the look of the pattern significantly, so I'm happy. (That's American crochet terms of course. UK terms would be double crochet and treble, but they don't scan as well!)

  1. Very pretty! I agree with you whole heartedly! Single crochet does seem to take forever, and it is very hard on my hands.

  2. The blanket looks just as yummy as the yarn did unworked. The only difference that I can think of, is that the single crochet rows would be more dense and give a heavier feel to the blanket. The double crochet rows will be more open, but that is also advantageous as it will be more thermal in nature and hold air pockets of warmth. Your granddaughter is a very lucky girl and I'm sure she will be just as delighted with the blanket.

  3. I think life should be easier and as it has almost the sam result (if not better) then go for it.

  6. The blanket is looking great, single crochet can take forever but it gives a thicker looking blanket.
