Experiment on Valentine's Day

While my wool was drying, I experimented with muskaan's heart in block tatting, which is here.  I thought I'd outline one of them with chains, but that was a mistake because it obscures the heart shape. I do like the idea of a bead at the bottom to emphasise the point. Of course my block tatting could use some work, but I like the concept.

  1. Perhaps a different colour around in chains would show up the middle of the heart, I am yet to try this and like you my block tatting will need some practice.

    1. Yes, and a finer thread might work better for outlining.

  2. I love your hearts and the fact that you experimented with the lacy edging. The pearl is like the icing on the cake. Happy Hearts to You.

  4. I tried this one as well, but as it's designed for a bracelet pattern, I found that it was too tiny as a stand-alone heart. After I'd chosen another design, I re-read the pattern and found that there is an alternative stitch count supplied to make it larger. I was just in too much of a hurry, as usual.

    1. Yes I used more ds than in the bracelet pattern. Size 10 thread for the red one made a better size too perhaps.

  5. I struggle with block tatting and love the edging you placed around it looks so very victorian.

  6. Thanks for trying it :-) I really like your chain addition and in a different colour, or finer thread, it may show up better !
