Holiday Sewing

I'll be travelling to Perth, Australia, in a couple of weeks time to visit my daughter and her family. I thought I'd make myself some new clothes to take along. I had fun buying fabric last week, choosing an array of colours and textures. So far I have two skirts, a top made and another one cut out.

  1. It's wonderful that you are able to make the clothes and choose the fabrics you like; I'd love to be able to do that, but have never had any success with sewing. And these days the patterns themselves cost so much that I am in shock before I even get to the choosing fabric stage! Will the raglan jumper be ready in time to take to Perth for your daughter?

    1. That's the plan, though I could always take my knitting with me and finish it there. I confess that I reuse patterns many times and these ones I made up myself - no cost, though really I did that in an attempt to disguise my figure faults, rather than to save money.

  2. Oh, come ON, Jane. You've got NO figure faults. I've met you and you're just right. I hope you remember my advice when you travel - take each stage one at a time!!!! Love the fabrics you've chosen.

  5. You are SO talented! Wow! It seems like making clothes is more expensive than buying them but that could just me and my lack of skill. You sweater looks amazing too.

  7. Sewing clothing is what I did for myself, my former husband and my daughter. It is fun to see your fabrics for your new wardrobe. Now I sew dresses for Girls Around the World.

  8. Boo Hoo, I cannot sew, yes a button can get put back on but not much else and I don't have a machine so I really admire those that can. I'm sure you'll look fantastic in your new clothes.

  9. I love the fabrics you've chosen! I just purchased some new patterns the other day. They were on sale for 99 cents, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Now to find some fabric!
