Progress on Miss Molly

This is the point at which I think I'm nearly finished. Not so, but far otherwise, as Kipling would say. I still have to sew ends in, crochet the neck edging and an edging around the whole poncho. I'm debating which colour to use for the edging. Dark pink is at the front of the pack at the moment. I have plenty of wool left because my 60% principle was, of course, rubbish. If you reduce the dimensions by 60 %, the area is much less than 60% of the original, so yarn needed much less than 60%. What would my maths teacher say?

  1. You put many of us to shame with your speed :-)
Wondering whether the loose ends (with additional yarn ) could be collected into tassels ? Little girls probably like it?

  2. It looks lovely! I would go for the pink as well.

My high school algebra and geometry teacher, Mrs. Biddulph, would have patted me on the shoulder and said, "That's all right, dear. We're all good at something."

  3. That's so, so pretty. Definitely pink for the border.

  4. Pink for the border and I love the idea of tassels. I had a poncho with tassels about that age, and rememb r it fondly. It wasn't quite that pretty though.
I thought the 60% made a lot of sense!

  5. You lost me on the percentages, maths was never my thing but I love the poncho, I wore one of these made from granny squares in the 70's

  6. Very pretty. I think the tassels idea would look lovely, as you have - almost finished - quite a few!

  7. Lovely! Definitely the dark pink for the border. I thought the 60 percent idea was very clever. Better to have too much than too little yarn to work with.

  8. The colours have turned out lovely, the dark pink would make a perfect border. I am sure that you will put the left over wool to good use!

  9. Your maths teacher might say, "Good, now you have enough for hat and mittens too."

  10. Beautiful and I think the dark pink around the sides would look lovely, the pattern and the beautiful colours used blend in so loveky.

  11. This is a sweet poncho, and lovely colors!
I'm always fascinated by those of you who spin and dye yarn! Lots of work, but must be quite satisfying! I'm afraid I don't have that kind of patience!

Amusing how the 60% rule didn't 'work'. Too much 'math' for me (I'm intrigued that the British word is 'maths'!) I looked up the reason for the 's', and even that got too complicated!

I'm also amazed it's hot in December for you, although we're generally having 'mild' weather for December here in Pennsylvania, which is fine with me!

Also wanted you to know that our local yarn shop has found a buyer! I was delighted to learn about it when a gal who works there stopped by our tatting table at a Christmas festival.

  12. Wow! You're very quick! It is gorgeous! Dark pink is perfect border colour as it will make the whole poncho colour scheme pop/stand out :).
