Self Striping

I've finished knitting the front of the sleeveless pullover I'm making my husband for Christmas. (Yes, I know it's midsummer, but that's the right time to prepare for winter!) I really like this pattern, can you tell? This is the third one I've knitted. The 'mistake rib', which I think should be called 'offset rib' creates a very elastic fabric, which means that stitch count is not crucial to a good fit.

  2. I'd wear this one too! - lovely design. And the yarn is perfect for it. Tell him not to put any holes in this one please.....

    1. :-) you did make me smile. I'm hoping he's going to wear this under his work jacket and not get holes in it, but I wouldn't stake my life on that.

  3. Very nice stitching they look so even, I don't know why but when I knit I am really bad with doing some rows looser than others. he will love this :)

  6. Jane, what do you mean by 'mistake rib'?
Every alternate stitch seems to be done through the back loop - is that right or is there something else you have created ?
Lovely springtime colorway - very refreshing :-)

    1. It's just knit 2, purl 2 rib. But because there are an odd number of stitches, one stitch aligns with the previous row while the other doesn't. I like that it looks fancy but is really very simple. No back of loops or dropped stitches!
