The Gusset

I had an idea I could attach the gusset of my bag in Tunisian crochet as I created it. Hmmm. No. I don't like the zig zag effect. So I decided to crochet the gusset separately and then sew it to the sides of the bag.

The first edge was fine.
But the bottom edge was ugly. I undid it and then resewed it in back stitch, using black yarn instead of turquoise. Better.
That's one side attached, now I need to sew on the other side. It should be quicker, now that I know what stitches to use where.

  2. I crochet very little and I know what you mean, sometimes when sewing it together it just isn't right! I have been wondering is that stitch also called the afghan stitch? because Long ago I was taught that in school and made a baby sweater from it. I loved how flat it laid and how thick it felt too! I don't think I could have place a picture in the work like you have, I considered stitch on the top :)

    1. You're absolutely right, it is also called Afghan stitch. It is thick. I had to do some experimenting to learn to add a picture, I couldn't find any instructions anywhere.

  4. Yes I learned it in high school and showed my mom and she loved it. the coolest thing about it is it kind of looks knitted, I was young but I also had to be careful not to add or drop at the end! you did an excellent job with placing the picture too you deserve the golden crochet hook award, I just made that up!

    1. Yes, I must line it. But I will have to wait until I go to town next week to find the right material for the job.
